Aeroplane Records

Aeroplane Records was founded in 1982 by Lin Stanton at the Salamanca Market in Hobart. What began as a humble market stall quickly grew into a cornerstone of the local music scene, with Lin later opening a shop that became a beloved institution among Hobart’s vinyl enthusiasts.

Although the shop closed in 2005, Lin continued to operate the market stall until his passing in early 2020. In February 2021, nearly four decades after its original launch, Aeroplane Records was revived by a group of Lin’s close friends, who were committed to continuing his legacy.

Today, Aeroplane Records offers a diverse selection of brand new and secondhand vinyl records, available both at the market and online. The stall features an eclectic mix of genres and proudly supports Tasmanian artists, showcasing local talent through a curated selection of releases.
