The Innovator Program
Salamanca Market has historically been a place where new businesses can start out with great ideas and grow their business.
The Innovator program has been created to provide an opportunity for new businesses to trial their product, service or experience in a real-world trading environment and access over 24,000 visitors in summer and 15,000 in winter each market day.
Each successful applicant will receive the opportunity to trade at the market for up to four weeks with support from Salamanca Market and an Enterprise Centre. A branded marquee will be provided as well as trestle tables, table cloths and signage for you to write your business name and information about your products. The cost is $110 (incl. GST) per week.
Salamanca Market is proudly owned and operated by the City of Hobart.
Who can apply
Any Tasmanian resident 18 years and above.
You have been in business for less than 12 months, although there may be some flexibility in this requirement.
Not currently a stallholder at Salamanca Market.
Not related to an existing stallholder at Salamanca Market.
How to apply
Step 1 - Complete the Expression of Interest form
Once submitted, an assessment will be completed by the City, and if successful, you will be referred to an Enterprise Centre in your region through Business Tasmania.
Step 2 - Work with an Enterprise Centre Business Advisor
The Enterprise Centre will assist you to develop a business plan or review your existing business plan with the aim of trading at Salamanca Market. This assistance is free.
Step 3 - Complete the Innovator Market Ready form
Once you have completed your business plan, the Enterprise Centre will provide you with an Innovator Market Ready form to submit to the City of Hobart for assessment. If approved, you will then meet with the Salamanca Market Stallholder Coordinator to talk you through market day operations and be allocated two suitable trading dates at the market.
