Whisky Tasting Trail

Salamanca Market is a great place to visit to discover local distilleries, breweries and winemakers.

To celebrate Tasmanian Whisky Week we have created a self guided Whisky Tasting Trail at Salamanca Market which will be held on both 30 July and 6 August 2022.

  1. When you are at the market, pick up a 'Whisky Tasting Trail' flyer at the information tent or at one of our whisky stalls.
  2. Follow the trail around the market to visit the participating stalls and collect stamps as you go.
  3. Once you have collected all of your stamps, drop your completed form at the Tasmanian Whisky Week Stall, located at site 189, on the Salamanca Lawn side, opposite The Den.
You can go into the draw to win a bottle of Tasmanian whisky and double passes to the Tasmanian Spirits Showcase being held on 13 August 2022. There five prizes to give away and each prize is valued at over $340.  The total prize pool is valued at over $1800.

Find out more about Tasmanian Whisky Week and the Tasmanian Spirit Showcase on their website.

Participating whisky stallholders and prizes are:

Old Kempton Distillery
Winter Release Single Malt Whisky, ex-Muscat cask, 500ml

This is a sold out product so very exciting to have the last one! It is an ex-muscat cask.

Taylor & Smith Distilling Co
Tasmanian Single Malt, ex-Rum cask, 500ml

Subtle caramelisation provides warmth and depth, the Whisky takes on the character of an individual barrel, evoking the spirit of Tasmania, the seasons and the sun.

Spring Bay Distillery
Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky, ex-Bourbon cask, Cask #170, 700ml

From a bright and sweet opening the flavours build across the palate to a rich, clean alcohol-driven crescendo culminating in a big, warm
and comforting glow of spicy tannin hints and peach flesh. The finish is long and warm with the afterglow fading into semi-sweet caramel and lingering stone-fruit tingles.

7K Distillery
7K Distillery Pinot Cask (7KD022)

49.7% ABV
Aged for 3 years, 9 months and 9 days
Notes: Sweet Cadbury chocolate and caramel hits with cherry ripe and heavily stewed Red Delicious apples doused in caramelised white chocolate.

Old Hobart Town Beverages
Captain Bligh's Cool Climate Single Rum, 500ml

Although not technically a whisky, we have it on good authority that this rum tastes very much like a whisky and is highly regarded by whisky connoisseurs.
